Description
IrriExpress provides a straightforward, yet powerful platform for designing irrigation projects utilizing pivots, sprinklers, and drip systems. Users can assess potential installation options beforehand, survey various terrains, create contour plans, and implement detailed irrigation designs effortlessly. The program boasts an intuitive and adaptable interface, facilitating full irrigation system design while allowing for easy analysis and validation of various configurations. With capabilities for digital terrain modeling and computer-aided drafting, it eliminates the need for tedious manual calculations, the reduction of survey field books, or the plotting of terrains by hand. IrriExpress efficiently transforms survey information into a digital terrain model format, leveraging up to 9,000 survey points to create a triangular surface model. Additionally, it facilitates the generation of contour plans by importing data from ASCII coordinates, DXF, DWG, and GPS files. Furthermore, the software proactively identifies potential issues based on specified upper and lower limits for different slopes and angles, ensuring users can address challenges before they arise. This comprehensive approach significantly enhances the planning and execution of irrigation projects, streamlining the entire process.
Description
In 2001, the SURDEV software suite was created through a collaboration among the International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (ILRI), Wageningen Environmental Research, and the Institute of Land and Water Management of the Catholic University of Leuven (ILWM) in Belgium. This suite includes three specialized programs: BASDEV, designed for level basins; BORDEV, tailored for sloping borders; and FURDEV, which focuses on graded furrows. Surface irrigation utilizes the force of gravity to effectively distribute water across agricultural fields. As gravity pulls the water, it traverses the fields from one end to another, allowing it to seep into the soil during its flow. Among the various surface irrigation methods, the most prevalent include level basins (which may or may not have level furrows), sloping borders, and sloping furrows, all aimed at efficiently delivering water. The primary goal of these irrigation techniques is to ensure that crops receive water in precise amounts, at optimal times, and in a consistent manner, which ultimately fosters a uniform crop growth while minimizing water wastage. Furthermore, the careful application of these practices can lead to improved agricultural productivity and sustainability.
