Description
DesignCraft is an open-source application designed for page layout and publishing, catering to the needs of designers, publishers, and anyone involved in creating multi-page documents. It features an array of tools such as spreads, parent pages, and various types of frames for text and graphics, as well as capabilities for threaded narratives, column arrangements, paragraph and character styles, color palettes, and text wrapping, all aimed at facilitating editorial and print-focused designs. Additionally, the application offers advanced typography functionalities, including paragraph composition, hyphenation, optical margin adjustments, and baseline grid management. Users have the ability to work with a native documented file format, and they can easily import or export IDML files, as well as export images in PNG format. DesignCraft is accessible as a native desktop application compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux systems, and it also provides a WebAssembly version for online use. For those who prefer automation, the application supports command-line workflows, a JSON control channel, and an MCP server for executing scripted or agent-driven document tasks. Notably, DesignCraft is entirely free and operates under either MIT or Apache-2.0 licenses, making it a valuable resource for creatives. As it continues to evolve, users can look forward to new features and enhancements in future updates.
Description
OpenDocScan is a free, open-source tool for scanning documents that operates directly within a web browser. Users have the option to take photos of pages using their smartphone cameras or upload images, allowing them to identify and modify page edges, correct perspective distortions, enhance lighting, rotate or rearrange pages, and subsequently export a multi-page PDF. The inclusion of optical character recognition enables the addition of searchable and selectable text to the scanned files. All scans and the document library are stored locally in the browser on the user’s device instead of being uploaded to a server, and the scanner remains functional even while offline after the initial site loading. This browser-based version encompasses the full capabilities of the product, and it’s important to note that there are no dedicated apps available for Android, iPhone, or iPad at this time. Users can enjoy the convenience of managing their documents securely without reliance on internet connectivity.
