Description

DeckCraft is a versatile open-source tool designed for the creation, modification, and presentation of slide decks. It offers a variety of features including themes, layouts, text formatting options, shapes, images, tables, charts, various transitions, animations, a presenter view, and the ability to display slideshows in full screen. The software supports opening and saving PowerPoint PPTX files and allows users to export presentations in formats such as PDF, PNG, JPEG, and outlines. Users can operate the application through its intuitive graphical interface, as well as via over 200 command-line commands, a JSON control channel, or an MCP server tailored for AI-agent workflows. DeckCraft is accessible as native applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux systems, in addition to a WebAssembly version that can be deployed as a static website. Currently, the project is still in its alpha stage, meaning that many features and functionalities are actively being refined and improved. As a result, users can expect ongoing updates and enhancements as the software evolves.

WebAssembly, commonly referred to as Wasm, is a binary instruction format intended for a stack-based virtual machine. It serves as a portable compilation target for various programming languages, which facilitates the deployment of applications on the web for both client-side and server-side use. The design of the Wasm stack machine emphasizes efficiency in size and load time, utilizing a binary format that promotes quick execution. By leveraging prevalent hardware capabilities, WebAssembly aims to achieve performance that is comparable to native speed across numerous platforms. WebAssembly also establishes a memory-safe and sandboxed execution environment that can be integrated into existing JavaScript virtual machines, thus expanding its versatility. When utilized within web environments, WebAssembly adheres to the browser's same-origin and permissions security protocols, ensuring a safe execution context.
