Description
CityCAD Viewer is a complimentary application designed for accessing and navigating URB-format models produced with CityCAD. There are no costs involved, and users do not need to register or activate a product to utilize it. While you cannot create or alter features like streets or buildings, the tool allows you to adjust assumptions related to costs, values, sustainability metrics, and other parameters pertinent to land use. This application was developed to facilitate CityCAD users in sharing their urban models with colleagues, clients, and various stakeholders, thereby promoting easier collaboration on urban planning initiatives. Users can open, examine, and save CityCAD models, as well as select elements within a model to view detailed information about them. Additionally, it provides the ability to alter the grouping or phase of elements in the urban model and allows access to all city analysis panels, excluding the 'advisor' tab and advanced appraisal functionalities. Users can also add and modify basic costs and values for elements, export images, reports, data, and KML files, and access information from an online database, making it a versatile tool for urban planning professionals. Overall, CityCAD Viewer enhances the collaborative experience in urban design projects by simplifying the sharing and analysis of city models.
Description
I often encountered issues where the STL files I downloaded required minor modifications to be compatible with my 3D printer. Usually, this involved simply centering the model on the build platform or resizing it to fit. A few months ago, I developed OpenGL code to visualize both STL and GCode files for a different extensive project, which proved useful. Additionally, I faced challenges when trying to open ASCII-encoded STL files in my 3D/CAD application, which only supports binary STL files, prompting the need for a straightforward conversion method. To address these challenges, I created Pleasant3D, a compact utility designed to resolve these issues while incorporating my earlier visualization code for STL and GCode files. This latest version enhances the error checking within the Quicklook plugins and ensures that if Quicklook generation fails, the standard document icon is shown, preventing quicklookd from crashing during error occurrences. With these improvements, users can now expect a smoother and more reliable experience when handling their 3D printing files.
