Union whines about bullying!

  • Wal*Mart has had a reputation for the last 20 years for not unionizing- and going to ANY length to avoid it. Which I guess begs the question- are you really supporting the Wal*Mart workers, or the corporate schills who were paid to beat people up to change their pro-union votes to anti-union? Do you really care either way?
    • I couldn't care less about any of those individuals. They are all adults and I trust them to make their own decisions. I am not so arrogant to assume I know what is best for them. What I celebrate is people no longer being subjected to the physical intimidation of unions. You don't agree?
      • People are going to be physically intimidated no matter which way they turn- that's the nature of capitalism. All you've done is replaced the physical intimidation of the union with the physical intimidataion of the corporation- both are equally evil, and if you can't see that, then your moral sense must be clouded by all that worship of Mammon instead of YHVH.

No, thats just another random, unsupportable assertion in a long line of them from you, followed by your typical, immediate segue into a personal attack. Maybe you want to wait until you get well so you can at least try harder.

No, it's a historical fact- if you don't fight for your rights in the workplace, cost cutting will chip away at your salary and benefits over the long run. You will be physically intimidated to sucumb- and without a union your only option is to terminate your employment.
  • I can see both sides on this issue, especially since I am working my hardest to be part of a union work force (Police).

As an employee, I don't want to have my paycheck cut to pieces by mandatory union dues which get sent off to some national headquarters where the money will be wasted to pay people to "represent" our local cause on a national scale. That is a load of crap. Keep the dues local and lobby the local state reps. But I also see the benefit of a collective contract so that no one gets shafted
    • Of course, and every workplace is different. But to see the union complaining about threats of violence for a change warms my heart. If the people want to unionize, so be it. But do it because it is necessary, not because someone wants a cut of your paycheck and has hired goons to make sure they get it.
  • Union organizers have been victims of corporate violence since the invention of unions. From Henry Ford's goon squads to thugs employed by the California agriculture industry, there is a long history of violence and intimidation towards workers. It is much rarer these days, but it's nice to see Wal-Mart keep that tradition alive.
