i can mod! finally! ..odd timing, but still.

nonsensical 'old ppl in korea' jokes, watch the fuck out.

I still can't metamoderate. does that make sense?

  • I, too, could moderate before metamoderating. It took me a few months before I had enough seniority to metamoderate. Give it time.
    • Are you sure this is the right order? I had mod points only once since I come here but I have the right to metamoderate two or three times every day...
      • This question [slashdot.org] in the FAQ and the ones after it discuss moderation and how it works.
        To moderate, you can't be a brand-new account, and you have to be an "average" reader. You also have to have at least positive karma, which means you've posted a few times and been modded up. Once you've met the basic criteria, it's mostly random. I log in probably an hour or two a week, and I get anywhere from 0-2 mod opportunities a month. If I were logged in 24x7 and refreshing the page every hour, I might get more cha
        • I knew this but I wished I could have a few mod points sometimes. I'm a regular reader (morning, evening and at the university), but I don't post every day, which could have some impact (and I'm too lazy to read the /code ;)
          There's also the rumor that if you click on link in anti-slash, you could be banished (is it for real???)

          the timing of all of it is odd, because the last post i made before receiving them was a +4 funny nerd-pleaser. after reading about the post-o-doom and so many people losing their moderating abilities, i'm skeptical of whether sysop-influence is a factor, or if it's some flaw in the meta-moderating algorythm.
