Journal Planesdragon's Journal: Read my wife 16

From My wife's livejournal

I have been watching Sen. Kerry concession speech and here is something that we all need to know.

A Quote from Sen. Kerry (I love DVRs)- "In an American election there are no losers because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake-up as Americans. That is the greatest privilege and most remarkable good fortune that can come to us on this earth. With this gift also comes obligation. We are required now to work together for the good of our country... America is in need of unity."

Sen. Kerry goes on to say that he hopes that Pres. Bush follows through with this ideal.

I *AM* the luckiest man in the world. :)

  • Telling me that I was worthless and no longer needed?

Is this the same President Bush that thinks putting people out of work in America is a net gain for the economy?
The attacks on me and my family have been going on since 9-11; I don't think they'll stop just because President Bush won an election fair and square. I'm an Oregonian first- an American second- because Americans don't like us 'Gonies- especially if we're educated.
    • *SLAP*

Your personal problems are no cause to be so partisan that you're unamerican. If you feel that griping and moaning is more important than working together, that is of course your right. But I won't respect you for it.
      • I'm not only unAmerican- I'm now pro-Oregon to the point of denying any partisanship at all. I just want my state back- hell let's go back all the way. I want my TERRITORY back- instead of being ruled by a government 3000 miles away who apparently knows nothing about what I'm going through and could care less. That goes equally for the Republicrats as the Demonicans.
        • Yay! Another person begins to see the value of the system set up by the founders, and the error of centralized federal power that Lincoln started and which has been slowly cemented into place over the decades.

          That's two today :)

Maybe we'll get enough of a movement going that we can actually REALLY regain some of our freedoms and liberties for real!

I still need to check out the Patriot Party one of these days, but they aren't in GA yet anyways so I'm not in a big rush.

If you like what they say, why don't you make some nominal movements to get them listed in GA? I doubt they can do that form whereever they are without at least some local contacts.

  • I know I'm gonna get a *SMACK*, but I honestly believe this:

When Democrats talk about unity, working together and bipartisanship, they mean Republicans should do everything the Democrats say. It's all a bunch of baloney, as evidenced by the first 6 months of the Bush presidency.

    • *SLAP* on the wrist.

A lot of Democrat pundits have said that, and it's a black mark on the party that they were even listened to at all.

But let's give them the benefit of the doubt, and let's see how things go for a short while. (I suspect that there were a few instances of real bipartisanship in early 2001, such as no-child-left-behind, but I'll conceed the point.)

    • As opposed to Mr "uniter not divider" who has presided over one of the greater dividing times of this country. And here he is again, repeating the same claims from last time. I have every expectation he'll do the same fabulous job this time.

No, it's not all up to him, you have to have two to tango, but he didn't try ANY more than the democrats did. Oh, I guess he was able to convince a holdout dixiecrat, who unlike the others was too lazy to switch parties in the last 40 years, to pretend to be a cross-l

Yesterday Bush said "I'm willing to reach out to those who share my agenda."

What about those who don't share his agenda? Is he going to reach out to them?

Well, if the first four years were any indication...
      • Do you have the entire quote in context? I listened to that press conference and while he did talk of having a mandate and forwarding his agenda (don't you think the winner in a political election should do what they've promised during the election cycle?), he sounded as if he is willing to work with the other side.

I will say again that I think Bush attempted to create a different tone in Washington in the first year of his presidency and it became increasingly clear through the first 6 months that the

        • Do you have the entire quote in context?

Look, I'm in the throes of Bush-hatred, I don't need no stinkin' context!

On that: have you noticed that his mouth is always hanging open a little? What's up with that?

Bush hatred has gotten a bad wrap over the last few days: it drove one of the largest voter turnouts (and the largest turnout of youth voters) in over 30 years.

Seriously though: as I recall, the Republicans shut down the Government for several days because Clinton didn't want to roll over for their

You are to take the weekend to either (a) get amazingly plastered and be hungover on Monday or (b) dry up and realize that Schumer won, Sores is the Albany DA, and Obama's joining Kerry and Edwards in the Senate.

See if MsVR can help. If you need to get out of the city, hop a train to Albany, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll show you the random collection of trees and buildings that's the capital of your state.

            (see? SLACK! ;) )
  • TITLE: This election makes me feel hated

I represent everything that Mid/West Americans voted against: secular, sexually active at an early age with multiple partners, yuppie, competitive, pro-abortion, interracially married. Oh, convert to Judaism.

All those evangelical Christians who send missionaries to uncivilized countries like, oh, I don't know, China, to convert the heathen, would be mighty pissed to discover that two generations later the convert's grandchildren rejected Christianity.

    That's reall

    • Please read this essay again, and tell me how it's wrong. In fact, after this election, we know it's 100% correct. People voted for Bush because they hate Gay Marriage more than they hate being Unemployed.

Or to put it another way: They'd rather have the government uphold their beliefs than give them a handout.

There's a heck of a lot of folk who vote for belief over opportunity, and these people do tend to be religious.
      • They'd rather have the government uphold their beliefs than give them a handout.

        Who said anything about handouts?
