Journal bubblegoose's Journal: If it's got t#ts or tires 11

...it'll cost you money

I bought that "beater" car a while back. It is affectionately known as my Babe-Magnet. No women can resist a guy in a '94 Subaru Imprezza Wagon with 100,000 miles. They threw in a free stick when I bought it to keep all of the women back.

Got the Babe-Magnet because I have a 30 mile commute each way and it is great in bad weather. It has all wheel drive and anti-lock brakes.

It started giving me problems Friday morning. The brakes got really soft, the pedal goes to the floor. Brake fluid level looks good. I had the front calipers replaced in December (they were sticking), and new brakes all around. I'm hoping its not the master cylinder. Maybe it is something covered until the earlier repair's warranty (fingers crossed). I'm wondering if it could be caused by hitting one of the craters that opened up in the last few weeks.

My other car, the Altima, has a remote starter in it. I ran the car for the first time in two weeks today and the remote starter doesn't work. It starts and runs for about 3 seconds, then shuts down. It works fine with the key. I hope that is still covered under warranty at Circuit City.

  • Where's the "tits" part of that little missive?

C'mon -- it's Saturday morning. Surely you can think of *some*thing!

    • Oh I could go on and on about the ex-, you asked for it.

Today she really pushed my buttons. I dropped Emily off with her this evening. Emily cries because she doesn't want to go to Mommy's house, she wants to go to Daddy's house. I leave her with her Mom and Em is crying her eyes out. Then 15 minutes later the ex- calls, Em is crying in background. She puts Em on the phone and all Em can get out between sobs is "I wanna go you house Daddy". I told the ex- I was turning around to get Em. and the ex- says "I

What a fucking mess. I don't like your ex-.

But wasn't it cool to have another woman (your GF) there to read exactly what manipulative little games she was playing? Women are *so* underhanded.

I am so sorry that Em is unhappy. That is just the saddest thing. I hope she can get more of you soon.

        • I don't like her either :), she stresses me out.

The GF is a very cool girl. She has offered to push the ex- into a nervous breakdown. I am so close to taking her up on it. She could do it, I have no doubt about that.

I know, the Em part of it is the worst. The ex- thrives on drama, she can't see what she's doing to Em.
  • A wheel cylinder or something. You'll have to bleed the lines.

And that's about the extent of my "car guy" knowledge. :)
  • ...maybe they forgot to bleed the brake system when they replaced the calipers. Have they been like this since the previous repair, or has it only started recently?

That's one reason why I like to do my own repairs if I can. A couple of years ago, I had Pep Boys replace the steering box and power-steering pump on my '77 Cutlass Supreme; at the time, it was my only vehicle and I needed the work done ASAP. They didn't bother with making sure the steering wheel was lined up properly when the steering box w

    • It just started Friday. The repair was done a month and a half ago.

I used to do my own repairs too, but now I don't have a garage. The caliper replacement is a little beyond my skill level.
  • I had similar break issues and it turned out to be dirt in the break line, just needed to be bled a few times until fluid came out all four places and it was good to go. Just consumed a lot of break fluid during the operation.
  • All the guys reply talking about your car. I focus on your ex- and daughter.

    I am SUCH a girl!! :-)
