What's happened to me? Until a few days ago, I read /. once a day or so, and virtually never posted. Then I started posting. Then I got 4 funny moderations and an insightful on one comment today and now I can't keep my fingers away from the keyboard. Instead, I'm scouring for other places to inject my vast experience and witty reparte.

Is there a Slashdot Anonymous support group?

Nothing like a few mod ups to fire a Slashdot fever. I think you will find the thrill passes in a few days, mine waned a bit after my first 5 point mod, and I see you already have yourself a five pointer. I'm a bit jealous, I don't think I've ever gotten a single point for funny, though I've tried for funny on several occasions. I've moderated quite a bit, and now that's getting old as well. I feel guilty giving points if I don't read a majority of the posts, so I often end up not using my mod points.

I imagine your comment about settling back to normality is right on. At the moment I'm still taking advantage of the long weekend to play a more active role, but I'd better settle down before it becomes more than a simple distraction.

In the meantime, my most recent comments show a couple more interesting mods, so I must be doing something right.

Tell me, for someone with "positive" karma, is the gap between making moderations days, weeks, or months?

Seems to be weeks, but also very random, and could even be days at some times.

About my jungle joke, it felt original at the time, but I suspect it's not. I certainly copied the format -- "To say blah blah is to be insutling to blah blah." If you click on my homepage link, you'll find several hundred other one liner attempts at humor. I'm also probably overly pleased with my new sig.

Well, I finally did it yesterday, getting my karma to excellent with a few moderated postings. Now I can declare the game over and go home :)

To anyone who reads this, please don't consider this joke between me and DumbSwede to be target practice....
