Journal FortKnox's Journal: Your Final Decisions! 67

OK, its nearing the end. This journal is meant for only one comment per person. Each person should post a list of number-sig pairs of all 44 pictures. Think hard, cause you only get one chance.

I won't give out the list until Friday night or Saturday morning, so take your time (people are starting to give out clues).

And over 2400 comments! WOW! We'll have to check tomorrow morning/afternoon to see if we get into the HOF (I think it might, because it uses the same comment.pl).
Next question is... can we beat out #1 (over 4k comments)?

We should also start considering what to do next contest (post it in the original contest JE to extend the comment number). Next time, I'm putting a db backend, so I can collect stats AND play.

Anyone bored enough to tally up what each picture has been guessed at? I'll start you out. Pic 001 has 7 votes for Liora, 4 for Daoine, and 1 for spirit00.

      Dewd- I love yr sig-website. Engineers are the jam, and by that I mean they are totally sweet. I saw an EE derive ohm's law from maxwells equations, and it was so awesome that I threw up. EE's wail hard!

      • Uh, thus the not *so* obvious, so that you couldn't accidentally look at the post and tell pretty much right away which one was missing. :P

        If you're gonna make the effort to cut/paste/curl and sort it, be my guest. :)

        • Oh, I did it much more elaborate than that. First of all, when the contest started I did research on the different potential contestants (only on the first batch). Not much was to be found, but some hints helped.
          From that I started a list (on paper) who could be who and who was participating. Later with the first batch I had a couple of names that should be in the first 29.
          I did some guessing, had soem clues left and right. Anyways, after my small list of 99% hits was finished, I just coded an appli

      • I am, indeed, neither of the duplicates. I recognize that I have, therefore, produced at least two guaranteed wrong answers, but I will find a way to carry on...

        Perhaps "on with which to carry?"

        Though I doubt that the random sequence my selections were in co-incides with the [reasonably] random order in which the pictures are.

        I think this post is rapidly falling into a deep formality from which I fear I shall not be able to return. Thus endeth the word of Oculus [ifrance.com].

          i say that "on" is functioning as an adverb, and therefore can be at the end of the sentence. you could also argue that "on" is part of the verb. "to carry on" does not mean the same action as "to carry" does. it's similar to german and separable verbs. (english is a germanic language, after all.) another example: "look the fence over" vs "look over the fence."

    • Why did you use a spreadsheet? I've published a tool to fill up the gaps at random and to make sure you don't mix up males and females.
      I at least hoped that some people would use it... *snif* My programming skillz are no appreciated around here. ;-)
