I figured that I'd ask those who are already using it for your insights, your ideas, how you use it, and your list of "gotchas" and annoyances before I RTFM.

Best ways to add/group/find people? Your own sharing schemas? Anything else?

I think that's more along the lines of the second thing, because I won't be getting any invites if I don't USE it. So I've got to add a bunch of people first, and actually use it, and then they might open the tap a bit. And yesm I'll keep you in mind :-)

The . on the LHS of the @ is meaningless. If you're giving it out to promote readability I understand, but barabrahudson@ is equally viable and makes more address parsers happy. YW, from your friendly neighborhood old sendmail.cf/sendmail.mc hand-tweeking, recovering sysadmin.

The dot on the LHS of the @ is only meaningless in gmail - other MTAs are free to treat barbara.hudson as different from barbarahudson, according to RFC 5322.

The MTAs for my domains see the two as being different, and I use the dotted version on all of them for consistency.

BTW - did you get the google+ invite I sent you?

Yes, but I cannot use it since my domain is a Google Apps domain which does not yet have access to Profiles. I tried to reply but it was a bit-bucket address. I'd rather not use my gmail.com address as it's really only for forwarding my Gvoice to my Obihai device for free phone service. So, as soon as they enable Profiles support for Apps domains I'll jump on the bandwagon and add you to my "not a douche" circle. http://www.pvponline.com/2011/07/07/plus-or-minus/ [pvponline.com]

I tried by using just the email address, but it wants me to put a name as well, so just send me an email - you know the routine - [e-mail]

Now I just need to figure out wtf I am supposed to do with it. It wants me to add Rob Malda to my circle, I'm not sure why. I think it then grabbed every gmail.com address I have seen in my inbox (not many, really) and asked me if I want to add them to my circle.

Oddly enough, included in the list is "[e-mail]". So I added it to my circle, too :)

Create a slashdot circle, and add people from slashdot to it.

Add your friends to the friends circle

Add family to the family circle

Create a useful trolls circle and add me to it :-p
