Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: Ask Slashdot- BT530 & Android 3

Ok, so I have a Jabra BT530 bluetooth earbud, that is supposed to support A2DP media streaming. I have a TMobile G2 Android 2.2 phone, which is also supposed to support A2DP streaming. Worked somewhat OK up until yesterday, had to reset the earpiece after a phone call, but it worked.

It has stopped working. Any attempt I've made to connect Media Porfile to the BT530, is rejected.

I've tried putting the BT530 into "purple" pairing mode, deleting the pairing, and repairing it, but even that hasn't worked.

Anybody see this behavior? Anybody have any clue how to fix it, save getting a new headset?

And just in case I have to go with that last- anybody have any idea of a good one-ear headset that supports HandsFree and A2DP profiles?

  • It had to go back.. The replacement is still working like a champ. You will need to test another headset to make sure it's not the phone anyway. Is there a hard reset for both? I would ask you if it was plugged in, but only if I was trying to be facetious :)

Another question: Is the 'player' in the headset, or the phone? And shouldn't the headset just receive audio?* Maybe there's a sleep timer that won't reset. Battery keeping a charge?

    * never mind. I just spent five minutes reading what a complicated kludg

    • The player's in the phone- the headset seems to be keeping a charge. Didn't think to try a hard reset of the headset. Will try that, I seem to remember something in the manual about it.

    • THANK YOU! Full reset and re-pairing in purple mode worked. To reset- for those who find this journal entry on Google and are trying to figure this out- you need to hold all three buttons (+,-,multifunction) until the light comes on a steady white (really red, green, blue together). Then wait 10 seconds, using the time to delete the pairing from your phone. Then hold down the multifunction button until you get a solid purple light. THEN re-pair. To switch to media audio, just load something into the m

It's later than you think, the joint Russian-American space mission has already begun.
