Journal NaveWeiss's Journal: How to make friends on slashdot 5
So, you came to slashdot and decided that you want to make friends with other geeks. The best way to make friends is talk about what interests them. I will show you several different topics and their results.
By simply writing about your life, you'll get 39 friends.
By writing a lot about your life, you'll get 90 friends.
By crapflooding and widening pages, you will get 120 friends.
By writing a journal about IT and economy, you'll get 121 friends.
By writing a lot of journals about no particular subject, you'll get 233 friends.
By fighting the admin, you'll get 249 friends.
By being the admin, you'll get 578 friends.
By being a Star Trek actor, you'll get 1198 friends.
By posting naked girls links, you'll get 1254 friends.
You do the math. I'm going to download some more pictures.

The popularity of CT can only be attributed to the fact that his journal is the only fucking place where there is a chance of getting updates on

And you're right about Taco. I only scan his journal for meta news, and never bother to read what games he play.

What I think is that you get added as a fan much faster if you write in others people journals... and actually try to stay polite and insightful. Let's say that the number of fans just replaced the karma rating, that's how I see it. I honestly believe that 39 fans is much more than I deserve.
Also note that four of my fans are actually people I know in real life. This means that they added me, not because I wrote good stuff, but because they were friends in the first place.
