How DOES electricity work?

  • The link is not for a University-level textbook. I suspected just by the way the text was written that it was for kids, and indeed the link from the page you linked to goes to a BJU "Grade 4" text.

Although interestingly enough the way to purchase that text from BJU is on a "Distance-learning by hard drive" kit, for the low-low price of $699 [bjupress.com], or maybe $899 [bjupress.com], depending on which link you click on (or how righteous you are?). Nonetheless it is interesting that apparently the only way to question how electric
    • Can't wait to hear how we get to see those little people in the magic TV set. Or how come the bad guys are so stupid - they make the same mistakes in every rerun that they made in the original. And the good guys appear to be deaf. They don't hear the creepy music that should tell them DON'T OPEN THAT DOOR!
  • Good grief, it appears to be *accredited* too (I thought it might be a certificate mill).

You can certainly feel electricity. I've felt it more than a few times and it bloody hurts.

    • This is completely OT, but regarding your sig: Wow, that project has come a long way. I've just tried it out, and it's just so much better. What a pity there is no multiplayer. I've spent YEARS playing the original Elite on the C-64, even when we already had PC's. We just used the PC for our "board books", where we were logging routes, prices, events and so on, and constructed ideal trading routes.

Are you associated with the project or do you just happen to like it?

I worked on the Linux port a while back (originally, it was Mac OSX only, but then two of us worked on porting it to Linux using the GNUstep libraries and SDL, and stripping out Mac OSX specific UI code of which there wasn't very much, and also adding joystick support). Once it was ported to Linux someone else took up the mantle to port it to Windows given both GNUstep and SDL are available.

I've not worked on Oolite for three or four years, but I still host the Wiki (http://wiki.alioth.net).

        • I tried Oolite some years ago and find it pretty true to the original. Now I had seen it in your sig, tried again, and found they've really expanded it a lot, adding interesting stuff. Unfortunately with a German Mac, I have to use the keymapper and that isn't really fun as it doesn't give you the original key as an information. (I suppose it's on the wiki, but I had just a quick try.)

I just wanted to say thanks for working on it. I, for one, enjoyed it quite a bit a few years ago on OSX and Mandriva Linux,

Maybe God was punishing you for believing in electricity? :-)

There are two ways to write error-free programs; only the third one works.
