Journal mec08's Journal: What is a LED?
It is important to know what a LED light is if you want to understand how a high power LED flashlight works. LED stands for light-emitting diode. It is a semiconductor diode that emits light when an electric current is available for it. Itâ(TM)s just like a simple circuit. This circuit produces electroluminescence such as infrared rays, visible rays and ultraviolet rays. These lights are often very thin, typically less than 1 mm. Manufacturers usually add special optics or lenses to the chip for better reflection, creating an incredibly powerful beam for the bulb.
LED lights are embedded in a high-impact epoxy condition, which makes them virtually indestructible and then perfect for handheld lights. There are no loose or moving parts either. LED lights also produce no heat, allowing them to be used for long periods of time without concern of burning. LED flashlight is one of the latest and greatest technological electronics. The bulbs are stronger, lasting longer and less power consuming, all the three common problems are eliminated at once.
