Scott Lockwood's Journal: I posted this as a comment, but it needs wider dissemination

To all the Republican Neo-Conservatives:

I wish that those on the right could stop beating the war drum, and live up to their own rhetoric. Namely, how they say that all real Americans will support their elected president. Ok. You have an elected president, now. Republican Neo-Cons, show us that you mean what you say. Republican Neo-Cons, show us that you support the President of the United States. Or, just shut the fuck up and admit that you don't give a shit about America, but only about your neo-conservatism. Your idea of building an American empire.

My opinion? Fuck that shit. Guess what - it's the opinion of the majority of your fellow AMERICANS, too. The difference is, we're willing to work with you, even thought we just about don't have to at this point. Can you say the same?

Two kinds of conservatives

There are two different flavors of conservatives in America, those that are the NeoCons and the old-school conservatives (I remember one dotter here refer to the old-school conservatives as Reagan-era conservatives). I would be considered old-school.

I have no quarrel with what I call 'real' Republicans, like you. I myself am viewed by my family as 'right of' everyone. It drives me nuts - I think I'm more of a centrist. heh. Perception is everything. My mom is to the left of Che and Fidel, I think. I'm not that far out in left field.

Us old school conservatives (I'm a fiscal conservative, but a centrist socially) would also request that neocon-liberals like yourself quit yelling and screaming about the far right. The far left isn't that much more appealing, either, ya know...

Paleocons

The term is paleocon. Reagan was more of a centrist and populist (witness his huge cross over blue collar and union traditional Dem voting bloc he scored) Goldwater was a paleocon, as was Helen Chenowith. Basically most any of the Rs in the Liberty lobby are a little closer to old traditional R-land.
