Journal rk's Journal: On returns... 8

So, about a year ago, I bailed from Slashdot, wiped my journals (so stupid!), dabbled with Multiply, which I despised, so I left there, and basically became a hermit.

All I have to say is I don't think I've coped with life very well these last couple of years. But, things have a way of returning to their base state, and I have been reading /. regularly for a few months now, and sharing my wit(lessness) with the masses. But, I've not been reading journals, and many of the friends I've made here have gone on to Multiply, so I guess I'll be missing them.

Also, my office here at the newspaper has been emptied. And at home the house is all but packed as we await the movers tomorrow to return to our beloved Arizona deserts. I will once again be working in space sciences, and hopefully, I can return to my normal zany insanity instead of the brooding miserable insanity that has possessed me for the last two years.

So, as I return to "my happy place", I'll try to do better to keep in touch. :-)

On returns...

  • We really miss AZ and even though I'm very committed to what I'm doing right now, I find that my mind often wanders to thinking about going back. Hope you enjoy it enough for the two of us.

You're still in Florida, if I recall correctly, right? I've got to think Florida is like SC, only moreso, though there's more cool things to do.

Thanks for the well wishes, and if you ever want to come back to visit, we're renting a big ol' house in Mesa just off the 202, minutes from Tempe. We've got room. :-)

      • Yeah - we are in Orlando. Thanks for the offer. We have both our parents and 5 siblings in the area between the two of us, so usually our problem is not offending the family we don't stay with.

There is a lot to do here, and a lot of people really love it here. We both grew up in the desert and we miss it. Though- if we were to leave here, we'd give serious consideration to Colorado. We go there every 2 years for a staff conference (Ft. Collins) and we really like it.
  • Welcome back (to /. & AZ)!
  • Welcome back, such as it is. :-) I'm of pretty much the same opinion regarding Multiply, but it seems to suit some people well. So here I am, pretty much the same as always. My activity level is a bit lower these days, which seems to have translated to frequent mod points.

Anyway, if you are heading back through Dallas, or anywhere near Dallas, drop me a line. I'd enjoy the chance to talk again.

Alas, our return path is via a more northerly route (I-40), although what with the storms that went through Arkansas and Tennessee maybe we need to reconsider that pathway.

  • And congratulations. I'm glad you're getting closer to finding what you want;-)

Quantity is no substitute for quality, but its the only one we've got.
