I have a close friend who greatly enjoys bigfoot lore. The way he sees it, its either real, a mass hallucination (ie, lots of people mis-seeing the same thing), or a long and highly successful hoax. Each one of which is wholly fascinating in and of itself. Maybe what we need are high resolution IR satellite photos of the Pacific NW that volunteers can then screen for "ape-like" heat signatures.

Yeah, that seemed a little odd to me too. Although there have been reports of Swamp Apes and the like in the east since long before any white person heard of Sasquatch.
