An important warning for parents

  • ..because of the god-awful music then?

I am practicing for when my daughters are teens; sort of a combination of "Mr. Happy meets an ostrich with his head in the sand" kinda thing.

  • Much like the Anabaptists, who used to starve themselves to death. What it is really about is attention- if you see your kid wearing the fashion, get involved in their life even if that means your family has to sacrifice somewhat (like dumping that 2nd income).
  • ...who wanted to hug the Emo Emu?
  • Did Larry the cable guy become a sheriff?
  • either should get serious about offing themselves or fucking shutup already. ... and I thought goths were pathetic.
  • the really funny/sad part is that they took parodies of emo as resources about emo (such as the emo parody song on youtube).

parents and media freak out about whatever current counter culture movement arises among the youth.
  • ... stupidity of TV stations and their pathetic eagerness to find new 'dangers' to 'warn' about.
    • I understand how maybe in North Dakota, a state that is known for being boring, you might have to make up exposes just to fill the time.

But I live in the Twin Cities, which is a pretty place. You have to drive six and a half hours to get to a bigger city, (after that, the next two closest cities with larger populations are nine and a half and eleven hours). And it's not like nothing happens here either, the New York Times once called us Murderapolis, plus there is always bad weather to warn us about, whethe
      • Ha! But is that worse than Australian Channel 9's warning people about the dangers involved in (cue Twilight Zone music) ... reusing empty water bottles [ninemsn.com.au] ?! The highlight in this particular case would, I believe, have to be when our 'expert' finds algae in one of the bottles and we are made aware of the dangers of backwash!

I don't think it matters where you are any longer: the pathetic eagerness of the media - and their self-appointed 'experts' - to 'warn' people about all sorts of 'dangers' lurking in thei
        • "Indeed yes, backwash exactly"

I'm surprised how little they make about washing the bottles out with soap and hot water.

According to the commercial I saw, I am going to find out if carpooling to work is safe later tonight- I'm on the edge on my seat.
          • Last night, Channel 9 managed to reach a new low-water mark: they tackled the important issue of exchange of bodily fluids, and thereby *sharp intake of breath* all sorts of bacteria and other revolting materia while kissing! While kissing!! Well, obviously that sort of thing has to be warned about. And banned!

Just like the hidden dangers of carpooling, it's really important that people are told of these things!

One possible reason that things aren't going according to plan is that there never was a plan in the first place.
