  • A female rat can mate as many as 500 times with various males during a six-hour period of receptivity--a state she experiences about 15 times per year. Thus a pair of brown rats can produce as many as 2,000 descendants in a year if left to breed unchecked. (A rat matures sexually at age three to four months.) An average rat's life span is two to three years.

    So that makes each act last about 45 seconds... no wonder she moves on to the next guy. I bet the male mice don't even engage in foreplay, the little jerks.

    Also, can you imagine the outrage if a US paper published a picture of dead mice in those type of traps? Who cares that they are vermin? Mice are people, too! Stupid PETA losers. :-)

      When I posted this JE, one of the thoughts running through my head was "I'll bet TL is the first one to point out the rats' mating thing..." ;-)

      As for showing dead mice in traps... we show dead whales for fuck's sake. Without giving a shit about what anyone in the US thinks ;-)

            • I have never heard of that joke in my entire 16 years of existence. Probably because it's so bad that not even the people who randomly bring back bad "cool" things from the 70s as "retro" won't even touch that joke it's so bad. Bethanie's "girl logic" seems much better than Technolust logic.
  • i had a pet rat when i was in junior highschool (13 years old). i bought it from a kid in my neighborhood who later dragged his mom into the front yard, poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. it was a really normal neighborhood for the most part so that was a really strange event. i don't know if the rats drove him to it, but maybe?

    national geographic did a great article quite a few years ago about rats and how much damage they cause all over the world. i remember some of the things in that
  • 5 A rat can tread water for three days and survive being flushed down the toilet. (And it can return to the building via the same route.)

    So much for drowning 'em.
