How do tags work?

I open the box and type in a name.
It then creates a link on my tag page.

How do I add it to the story?
Or does it automatically do that based on my page?

Hows, I like that word, come the story still doesn't have any tags?
Do enough people have to tag it that to attach it?

How do I even remove it from my tag page.
What if I remove it from my tag page?
Will it remove it from the story?

It only shows an arrow and text saying "(tagging beta)".
When I click on the arrow it shows some examples and a text-box and button.

I typed in, "diebold" in that case, then buttoned.
It added it to my page but not the front page, even after reloding, was the same; nothing between the arrow and the beta words.

P.S. I am a subscriber but it was the same before I subscribed, a few days ago.
