Inspired by various people who make dumb comparisons that sound like they make sense, solely for the purpose of making some grander insinuation, is my new song, Hitler and Obama. Enjoy!

My wifes college professor for History compared a Tea Party activist with their child on the lawn of the Capital building, to the Hitler Youth. He was "appalled" at the t-shirt the child was wearing, which formed the basis of his argument. Of course, he completely misunderstands exactly why the Hitler Youth was such a startling organization; it was a state institution. While the modern democratic party may share similar principals with the government of NAZI Germany (Socialist policies in general), many of our allies throughout the world also share those principals as well.
Yes, even if you take the Nazis to represent all that is the ultimate goal of our leftists in America, this makes the Nazis no different from Sweden. So why compare Obama to Hitler and not Per Albin Hansson? Because comparing to Hitler sounds worse. That's the reason, and it's inherently dishonest.
What made the NAZI regime so notable was their acts of foreign aggression, domestic extermination policies, extensive propaganda programs, and redefining culture based on modern (modern for that time) fiction (Aryan Superiority, Eugenics, etc.).
Exactly. So people who make comparisons to Nazis hope to bring along all this negative implication when they make their other comparisons.
While Obama has said a lot of very scary things (scary from an American perspective), there hasnt been a night of long knives, nor has their been a military coup. The idea of "civilian force equal to the military" is... well... scary.
