Journal pudge's Journal: King County Young Republicans 6

I am going to be speaking at the King County Young Republicans tomorrow, August 7, at 7 p.m. in the North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave., NE Bellevue, WA 98007. And Red Robin afterward. Mmmmmm, burgers.

  • Just fixed a computer for my wife's friend & she gave me some Red Robin gift certificates. At least once in awhile, you gotta have a Royal Red Robin - how often do you get to eat a burger with a fried egg in it? I also think it's worth the trip for a Raspberry Limeade alone.

Don't the Dems have Washington fairly sewn up?

Not at all. In 2004 we had the closest governor's race in U.S. history -- less than 140 votes out of over 3 million -- and this year's the rematch. The state legislature should remain Dem, but the GOP could make gains. There are some vulnerable U.S. House seats on both sides.

My own state legislative district is solidly GOP, but that could change if we aren't diligent, which is why I am trying to make sure everyone knows that Democratic candidate for State Senate Fred Walser is a convicted criminal under [fred-walser.com]

      • See, now, if I was Fred I would say that this legal imbroglio raises my credibility: at least my crimes have been aired in court, unlike so many others!

Actually, it was never heard in court, he pled guilty -- an Alford plea, so he was not actually admitting guilt -- before the facts were aired in court.

What he is really hoping is that people don't actually know about it, because legislative races aren't covered much. The local papers have barely covered it, and only one of the news stations has covered it a little bit. Most people don't know that Fred Walser [fred-walser.com] was convicted of a crime and sentenced to jail the same week he filed for Senate.

          • I didn't do more than a quick glance before replying.
What I was getting at is that we'd have to go for some sort of lottery to improve the chances of landing guiltless people in office.
Low criminal activity often correlates to aversion to office.
