Not at all. In 2004 we had the closest governor's race in U.S. history -- less than 140 votes out of over 3 million -- and this year's the rematch. The state legislature should remain Dem, but the GOP could make gains. There are some vulnerable U.S. House seats on both sides.
My own state legislative district is solidly GOP, but that could change if we aren't diligent, which is why I am trying to make sure everyone knows that Democratic candidate for State Senate Fred Walser is a convicted criminal under [fred-walser.com]

Actually, it was never heard in court, he pled guilty -- an Alford plea, so he was not actually admitting guilt -- before the facts were aired in court.
What he is really hoping is that people don't actually know about it, because legislative races aren't covered much. The local papers have barely covered it, and only one of the news stations has covered it a little bit. Most people don't know that Fred Walser [fred-walser.com] was convicted of a crime and sentenced to jail the same week he filed for Senate.

What I was getting at is that we'd have to go for some sort of lottery to improve the chances of landing guiltless people in office.
Low criminal activity often correlates to aversion to office.
