Journal pudge's Journal: "Schrammie" Acceptance Speech 8

I won the Schrammie today. You can read or watch Ken Schram's opinion of me, and see or hear the object of his outrage, the song I wrote called "Osama Bin Laden, You Ruined My Birthday."

Tonight I posted my acceptance speech on YouTube.

The speech is primarily in the form of a song I wrote a year or so ago. However, I wrote the second verse today.

So Ken, bend over and take your bow, because the second and last verses are for you.

  • Nice song. Oh, and if you are clever, use Firefox, and go to your cache directory you can find a 4.39MB file in there that when renamed with an flv extension will have Ken Schram's video.

    Happy hunting!
  • I like the song that won you the Schrammie, congratulations. But an entire song for an acceptance speech? Oh no, this clearly shows you've gone Hollywood. :-)

      Heh. Yes well, I wrote the song awhile ago. So it's not like I wrote the whole thing for the speech, just one verse. :-)
      • Once upon a time... not too long after the Grammy awards where Metallica (for the song 'One')lost to Jethro Tull(for the song 'Steel Monkey') in the newly created 'Heavy Metal' genre award. I saw Metallica play two nights later and Hetfield had changed the lyrics for 'One' at the break towards the end;

        Landmine has taken my sight
        Taken my speech
        Taken my hearing
        etc..

        it became this;

        Jethro
        has taken my pride
        taken my soul
        stolen my Grammy

        • btw... the recording sounds really good. What kind of mic are you using for the vocals?

            Thanks. All of my equipment [pudge.net] is listed on the web site. In this case, Studio Projects B1 mics.

            Oh, I need to update that, it says I have a PowerBook. It's a MacBook Pro now (that's the camera I used). I used the mics through the MOTU and then using LineIn set the two mics to output to Soundflower, which became the input for QuickTime Player. Works pretty well.

            • Man, as soon as I read your reply I realized you had told me that before. Sorry for duplicating the question... It sounds really good.

          I do recall that, but not being a Metallica fan, I found it to be more funny than angrysad. :-)

He who is content with his lot probably has a lot.
