pudge's Journal: Obama and Hillary Think Democratic Activists are Stupid

Obama and Hillary both said they won't participate in the Fox News debates. But they don't actually have a sound reason. They both know quite well that the debate would be handled as well as any of the others. They have nothing to fear from Fox News. Past debates on Fox News have been better than ones on MSNBC and CNN.

So why aren't they participating? Part of the answer is pandering to their Fox News-hating base, but it's more than that: they know that if they tried to explain what they had to gain from participating, that their base wouldn't understand it. In other words, they believe their base is dumb.

Giuliani's campaign is primarily about keeping people terrified and feeling unsafe. Elect him and he'll make the country safer! Except the terrorists want us to feel terrified. Giuliani's base is letting the terrorists win that aspect. And that is really dumb.

I never said there aren't many stupid people on both sides. But rarely is there so clear an example of candidates showing that they believe it.
