Journal pudge's Journal: Pudge Pwns PBS 5

Search for "Nandor". They posted the e-mail I mentioned previously.

The funny thing is that all of the respondents except for me criticized only the right-winger, when the Soltz guy was really bad too. An interruption, several ad hominems, irrational appeals to authority, accusations of undermining, and more. Note the Executive Producer's reply, which -- like me -- criticized both guests for interruptions and producing more "heat" than "light." And the transcript shows that both of them were bad.

So why did the readers criticize -- except for me, of course -- her, exclusively, and not him?, Pudge asked rhetorically.

  • I think the reason she was criticized more harshly was that she seemed more shrill and reactionary. People may be just be plain fed up with conservative pundits warping the truth in the same tired old ways. Perhaps they now prefer to bend it back for a change? I feel sorry for all these loyal republican attack dogs now. They've been used, plain and simple. Now they are so wound-up by their "leaders" that they don't know who to bark at anymore.

In deference to the repeated commentary on the recent French presidential race, I ask: would you have necessarily used the word "shrill" if it had not been a woman? ;)

Anyway, I agree more with (what I think is) Pudge's implicit statement, that the responses and respondents were just skewed left. It amuses me that one of the other topics on that mailbag page was "Does the Left Control, or the Right Go Unchallenged?" and three out of the four seem to think the right gets by easily.
  • Morgan blamed Media Matters for apparent PBS ban [mediamatters.org]

Hannity: "if they didn't like the segment, it should apply to both guests here, but it's only applying to you..."

Morgan: "This is censorship, because PBS has a blatant anti-conservative bias. They don't want to hear a proud pro-American, pro-troop point of view."

Shrug. Dunno why anyone thinks it only applies to her. Winslow said both of them were guilty, and implied it applied to both of them.
