Journal pudge's Journal: THINK ... or Don't 7
I was watching VH1 Classic the other night (I was flipping around and was mesmerized by Enuff Z'nuff) and then a commercial came on, and it showed these high school girls fawning over the new boy in school, and then he threw his soda can in the trash instead of recycling it. The girls then lose interest. Then the voiceover came up: "The world is changing. Think! Go to think.mtv.com."
That's right. Think! Think about how you will be ostracized unless you mindlessly follow the crowd!

Yes. Recycling is actually wasteful in many cases: it costs us money and resources for no, or lesser, gain. Recycling aluminum is not wasteful, but that is why they pay us to do it; but if you don't want to do it, who cares? That's as good a reason as any: just because you don't want to.
Let's put it this way: the resources wasted by these girls on makeup and clothes are far more damaging than what he wasted by

They were feigning loss of interest because they were pissed. Now they have to resort to "trash picking" to get that can, so they can recycle it themselves and get that $0.05 refund. "Trash picking" has its own stigma attached to it, because it implies a lower status on the social ladder.

Of course, having said all that, I don't get MTV, and I haven't seen the commercial.
