I headed over to Fry's on my lunch break to get an idea what notebooks are currently available...someone I know is in the market and wanted my advice. On the way in, I saw this:

let's say you're a college kid and by spending 3 days in line you could turn $600 into $3000 or more? in my mind the people who are even worse off than the ones in line are those who will be putting up that kind of cash on ebay (and i think some will go for quite a bit more than three grand)

On the way into work, someone on the radio mentioned the insane prices to which these things are getting bid up on eBay [ebay.com]. Holy crap...the first item has 44 bids and is at nearly $2400. A couple minutes later, it ended with 47 bids and over $2550. Who would be insane enough to blow that kind of money (I've bought cars for less than that) when you can walk into a store tomorrow and buy one?

Well.. odds are you won't be able to walk into a store and pick one up. The stock will sell out in minutes most I'll bet.

However.. I'm right there with you on people willing to spend that much. Just wait a few weeks or months and get one for list (or less) instead. Plus, any bugs in the initial run will be avoided.
