Journal mercedo's Journal: Fragile Society 3

Japan is indeed incredibly fragile society. Japanese language is logically speaking almost all opposite to logical order. Phonetially speaking it is too simple to express complicated concept of many ideas. Scriptively speaking still it is a irrational combination of phonetic signs and ideograms- it is not an alphabet. In short Japanese language will die away. Society based on this illogicality must be fragile.

  • What is illogical to one culture makes complete sense to another. Formal systems of logic are not universal, and we should not pretend that they are.

I'm afraid this is crystal clear. I think you too agree that English is more logical than Japanese. Japanese language is so-called S+O+V type. In logics we don't say S+O+V, but say S+V+O. Almost all major languages are based on S+V+O type. Few minor languages are classified as S+O+V. I say of course it's grammatical at least, but it's against logical order. Logic is very universal as mathematical truth. If you say, justice is not universal, I can completely agree.
      • Ah, but do try to remember the cumulative property of addition- in the end, S+O+V=S+V+O for every possible value of S, V, and O. Mathematics of course is not truly universal (see Godel's Incompleteness Theorm), but it's close enough for this modeling. It's important to remember that sometimes other points of view, other orderings of the universe, can arrive at the same answer.
