My love age 45 is just an ordinary woman, last time we met she told me that a fortune-teller told her that she gets a boyfriend at age 46 and she said it was true since she got a boyfriend.

I am not sure whether the fortunetelling is really telling about the future, but one thing is clear. She might have acted according to what the fortune-teller told her. Then she said yes to me, everything started from her conviction to the fortune-telling.

  • Last year, I had my tarot cards read and the focus of the reading was on whether or not I should get a new job. 9 months later (9 being a very important number to me) I got a new job. I don't know whether it was that the reading was predicting the future, or the reading planted a seed in my mind that caused me to take actions to get the new job.
    • When making an important decision, it's not in the least a few the fortune-telling plays the decisive role. We know 'The die is cast' and 'Cross the Rubicon' mean similar. Both mean make an important decision that cannot reverse. Now we know Caesar might cast the dice to make a decision whether he'd better cross the Rubicon. Thus he changed the world.

      And the question is, does it really matter either way?
      • Nope. Doesn't matter. I think we have a lot more control over the things in our lives than most people realize.
        • It reminds me of a conversation I once had with a network admin at a previous job, who was a follower of Santeria [wikipedia.org], which is a mix of Catholic and West African belief systems. For him, the world was filled with various spirits and powers that dealt with different aspects of existence. Once, for example, on the way to a Halloween party, he brought a six-pack of pumpkin beer for the host, but wouldn't drink any himself in order not to offend a particular spirit/diety/whatever. You don't see a white guy from
          • And this is exactly why I feel it is important for each person to find what works for them as far as spirituality, philosophy, way of living. There are so many paths to "inner peace" and there is no one path fits all. When you find it, whatever it is, you get to reap the benefits of being well-balanced and peaceful. The problems happen, I believe, when people think they have found the "one true way" and try to get everyone else around them to follow the same thing.
  • Hey mercedo - can I bother you for some translation? I've a korean song I'm want to translate, but I can't find a good korean to english translation tool. HOWEVER, I found someone who had translated the song from korean into japanese. I have a japanese to english tool that is better than the korean to english, but still not great.
