We have about 30 typhoons every year. Our island is often called 'typhoon Ginza', Ginza is the most populous shopping zone in Japan.
Thus we call them in numbers. We can call the days of the week in their names -Monday, Tuesday,...we can call the name of the months -January, February,..But how come we could call Jane, Bob, Nancy, Ted, Lucy, James, etc,...
About 38,000 households are already evacuated, early warning system is very important.

How about calling them "Hurricane Bastard" or "Earthquake scum-bag " or even "Tsunami son-of-a-bitch"

Lets name them after evil and nasty things.
Hurricane Katrina should be renamed "Hurricane Sadistic bitch"

ALSO - the names are Alpha-ordered... Katrina is the 11th Tropical Storm (Tropical Storms get names, and some become Hurricanes). And yes, Andrew was the first Tropical Storm of the '92 hurricane season. I was living in Florida at the time. Thankfully 50 miles north.
