Journal mcgrew's Journal: The Simpsons 2
From the Springfield State Journal-Register:
When the voice of Bart Simpson spoke Wednesday in favor of character development programs for children, Illinois legislators had a cow.
Nancy Cartwright, best known for providing the voices of many of the children on Fox-TV's "The Simpsons," testified before the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee in favor of a resolution that recognizes character development programs for public school children.

"Aside from the fact that Springfield is home to many wonderful characters, fictional and non, it's a fact that we all have the purpose of improving the lives and futures of our children," Cartwright told the committee.
However, the resolution's sponsor, Rep. Dan Burke, D-Chicago, said he will amend his proposal to remove specific references to Cartwright's program, due to the controversy, before it moves to the House floor.
"I'm out of here, man," Cartwright replied.
Rep. Ken Dunkin, D-Chicago, left his top-row seat in the committee room to videotape Cartwright's remarks using his phone, and during the hearing, Rep. Fred Crespo, D-Streamwood, tripped up and called Cartwright "Ms. Simpson."
After the committee meeting, legislators and staff members posed for photos with the actress and asked for autographs.
Meanwhile, Homer's sister in law, Alderman Simpson, has pissed off a lot of folks in her ward. Ward 2 is only a few blocks from my house; Felbers is in ward 2.
I was there with Amy a couple of nights ago. "So, you brought your girl tonight?" someone asked.
"No, she's somebody else's girl. My girl's out of town."
Tammy's jealous of Amy, probably with good cause. Amy's two on again, off again boyfriends are jealous of me.
"As the barstool turns!" Gaal said with a grin.
Felber's Ain't in Yelp! (Score:2)
But what's "Those who Care with Integrity"?
Re: (Score:2)
Beats me. The phrase is on Springfield's web site [springfield.il.us] with no link and no information. Apparently it's a neighborhood association, beyond that I have no clue.
That's an old google pic of Felbers, there's a nice double horseshoe pit and a fence there now. And as a small redneck/hippie bar in the ghetto, there's not much chance of it being on Yelp. They don't need it, it's almost always packed.
