I successfully navigated around a Lotus Elise last week, despite the wife any myself getting into one, and both being nuts.

But the Elise starts at 40.000 new, with cars on the lot (registered for a day without having driven a km) going for 35000. That's a lot of money. OTOH, used 98 model year cars have only lost 20% or so in value, so it's probably the best 'investment' one can do in cars. And, after all, they are supercars. Normally, yes.... That's however the bitchy part about that damned "auto festival". Yesterday she just woke up with the idea of buying a Mini and whatever rational reasoning I could find not do buy one, was me being a spoilsport.
So, I shut up and let her do. It's not as if I have much to say since I already drive an expensive car. (Except that it's 6 years old and completely paid) My arguments were null and void just because of that.

I refused to drive it. There is no reason to test a car that I didn't want in the first place. It's going to be hard to match the driving experience of my own car ;-) But, yes, I'm sure that she's going to lo

I think a mini is a very nice car. It looks great, is fast and parks easy. It's a pure winner in the city. The only thing you can't do is pack up and move your household around europe.
I do get the impression, that you both have quite a 'particular' relationship, though..

Fast? Compared to what? It's a Diesel for crying out loud ;-) (No, okay, I know... Diesels aren't the same as years ago) And, yes, it looks nice. It probably went well with her purse and shoes that day. *grin* As for parking... ehm... any small car parks easily. So does mine, go figure.

That was probably a Mini Cooper S. That's 170HP for 1215kg. Compare that to a basis Audi TT (180HP for 1300kg) and you know why it outruns a simple Golf VW 1.8. (Sorry, can't find the specs of a Golf VW 1.8, because they aren't made anymore. Biggest gas engine seems to be a 1.6FSI)
