Howdy All, Looking forward on seeing everyone at the event this coming Friday 8pm at Agora. It will be Slashdot's 15th anniversary, so it would be a great opportunity to do something awesome at the event. So it seems we have enough people to do a Freeze Mob at Agora and make a video out of it. I will be bringing my camera, and Slashdot's swag(Thanks Slashdot). Idea: Have several Slashdotters freeze for a minute, while drinking coffee and looking at their screens. You could be reading slashdot on the mobile site, the palm site, original site, wayback machine circa 1997, on any browser( ie, Netscape, lynx, rss). Extra points for those that are hacking away, http://hackertyper.com/ . A photograph of a location cannot be trademarked, if that were the case, then they would have to trademark every and any photograph of a place. Suppose that the claim that a photograph of a particular place can be trademarked... Taking the following into account, angle, zoom level, color variance, etc...Every photographic variation should also be trademarked. But this would not fall under the definition of a trademark, and not even a trade dress... A trademark, trade mark, or trade-mark[1] is a distinctive sign or indicator used by an individual, business organization, or other legal entity to identify that the products or services to consumers with which the trademark appears originate from a unique source, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademark

+ - IRS Considers to Enforce New Tax 1

Submitted by darkmasterchief
darkmasterchief (997565) writes "FIerceCIO has the word that the IRS is considering to place a tax on phone bills payed by employers. Considering it as a taxible benefit, the tax will be applied to individual calls, including text messages sent, on any mobile device. The law is not coming out of the blue, as the law was passed in 1989 when cell phones were viewed luxury rather than a necessity, and its only being re-inforced. The IRS is looking for feedback on this idea, so make sure they hear from you. Deadline for submissions is on Sept 4."

Remember kiddos, it's not just about the privacy issues that we have here in America. Look at what the other countries are having to deal with now, their privacy is being completely violated in one way or another. The implementation of cameras, people tracking, and other types of identification systems are being misused; in no time they'll be dealing with zealous institutions who are willing to undermine the average citizen to "make" the world a better place.

Gizmondo - Rumor Crushed "In fact, Crispin Porter has another completed spot featuring the lovable, affluent couple in the can, ready to air (even though it won't quite yet). And while the agency has prioritized development to the anti-Mac ads, there are still full plans to go ahead and produce more Seinfeld/Gates spots unless Microsoft were to pull the plug first (which, once again, they have not at this time)." - Gizmondo
