I have one. I purchased it for browsing and watching streamed videos. The trackpad sucks, but it works well for online use, and it has a larger screen than tablets. I was using a Kindle Fire HD for wireless browsing, and this beats it hands down.

I toyed with the idea of replacing ChromeOS, but I'm not so interested in tinkering any more.

No. The National Guard has always has dual missions, state and federal. National guard troops even get extra training during their basic training, to cover dealing with riots. The feds fund the majority of the costs so that the guard is available in case of need, but they still have to request the guard from the governor. They get around that "nicety" by threatening to take away federal funding.

What they were not intended for was long term recurring deployments outside of declared wars.

+ - Back to the Soviet Future?

reporter writes: "According to a disturbing report by the "New York Times", "An unusually large and unruly protest against the government of President Vladimir V. Putin ended here Saturday in clashes with the police and the arrest of opposition leaders. [...] As [Sergey V. Gulayev] spoke, riot police shoved through the crowd and grabbed the bullhorn from his hands, smashing it against the wall of a building. A policeman put Mr. Gulayev, grimacing, in a headlock and dragged him into a police vehicle as members of the crowd yelled 'Shame! Shame!'" Is Russia regressing back into the Soviet Union?"

SPAM: Former FBI Director Calls For New OKC Bombing Investigation

Journal by Jeremiah Cornelius

Former FBI Terrorist Task Force director Danny Coulson has called for a new grand jury investigation into the Oklahoma City bombing and for the first time names Andreas Strassmeir as an "agent," in a documentary set to air Sunday, according to lawyer Jesse Trentadue.

Trentadue, attorney for bombing conspirator Terry Nichols, last week obtained an astounding declaration from Nichols in which he fingered FBI agent Larry Potts as having directed McVeigh in carrying out the attack.

+ - Saudi Arabian oil production declines 8% in 2006

BadOctopus writes: "The guys over at The Oil Drum have the story that the world's biggest oil exporter, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, experienced an 8% drop in oil production since the beginning of 2006. This decline coincides with a large increase in the number of oil rigs in the country, which implies that either the Saudis are preparing for a large future increase in production, or it is getting ever harder to extract the oil. What seems more likely? What does this mean for the KSA's internal and external political relations?

If the world's largest producer joins the multitude of other nations that are post-peak, can a global peak in oil production be far off?"
