Journal: Linux based RC Control System

Journal by Spliffster

DIY drones today are usually controlled with a classic RC transmitter in manual mode or from a ground station software on a laptop (using 900/2400MHz or GSM links). The ground station let's you view your drone on a map, set way points, view attitude and view a video stream from an on-board camera.

The ÂOpen Source RC Control System will combine an RC "transmitter" with a touch screen (AMOLED 4.3") for ground staton functions. This RC control system will have very interesting features like On-board 3D Simulator, telemetry communication link, bluetooth, wifi, gps, 16-40 Channels and a custom "receiver" for full bi-directional communication.

This open source hardware project is currently in planning stage, a fund raising has been started to raise $15.000 (remember, this is a hardware project). You can donate for the OSRC project at: http://www.indiegogo.com/OSRC

Journal: Googlepages discontinued

Journal by Spliffster
Googles first generation website authoring tools seem to have hit EOL.

Just a few minutes ago I have tried to create a new page at pages.google.com with a google account not having google pages set up yet an I was told:

Google Page Creator is no longer accepting new sign-ups. If you would still like to create your own free website, please use Google Sites. Learn more about this change.

Google states that pages.google.com is discontinued for the following reasons:

We are no longer accepting new sign-ups for Page Creator because we have shifted our focus to developing Google Sites, which offers many of the capabilities of Page Creator along with new features like site-level navigation, site-level headers, control over who can see and edit your site, and rich embeddings like calendars, videos, and Google docs. If you are currently a Page Creator user, you can continue to use Page Creator and your pages will automatically be transitioned to Google Sites later this year. We are committed to making this transition as smooth and easy as possible, and we will post more details as we get closer to the transition time. You can also manually move your web pages from Page Creator to Google Sites or other service providers at any time.

Journal: Firefox 0-day exploit seems to be fake.

Journal by Spliffster
The Mozilla Developer center has released an update on the 0-day exploit of firefox revealed by Mischa Spiegelmock. In a statement to the mozilla team, Mischa Spiegelmock says:

The main purpose of our talk was to be humorous. ... As part of our talk we mentioned that there was a previously known Firefox vulnerability that could result in a stack overflow ending up in remote code execution. However, the code we presented did not in fact do this ... I do not have 30 undisclosed Firefox vulnerabilities, nor did I ever make this claim. I have no undisclosed Firefox vulnerabilities ...

Hopefully he is honestly. Window Snyder commented on this message:

Even though Mischa hasn't been able to achieve code execution, we still take this issue seriously. We will continue to investigate.

Journal: Firefox CCK (Client Customization Kit) Released

Journal by Spliffster

Version 1.0 of the Firefox CCK (Client Customization Kit) has been released.

The Firefox CCK allows people to create an extension that customizes the browser for a particular installation or deployment. Example customizations include adding an indentifier to the user agent string, changing the default home page, title bar text and the animated logo, preinstalling browser plugins and search engines, adding bookmarks, registry keys and certificates.

It's time to boot, do your boot ROMs know where your disk controllers are?

Working...
