Journal Saige's Journal: Life in our Anti-Christian America 6

As I've seen a few people post in some of the various Ten Commandments and related discussions that have taken place in various journals about how America is becoming so anti-Christian, I thought I'd pass this link on to anyone feeling like reading my journal.

It's a nice little commentary on the state of religion in the US today. Ok, maybe not exactly TODAY, as it seems to be a few years old, but it's still not like it had to be translated from an ancient language or anything. (though if someone wanted to translate it into an ancient language, check out Omniglot - a site that has pretty much every form of written language that's been found on the planet. I particularly like the look of Burmese. Anyways, back to the point...)

So I present Life in Our Anti-Christian America.

  • the format of the article is an awkward one. While i agree with the premise- that christianity is forced through our lives whether we want it or not (and before anyone says, well, we're just respecting our founders, i encourage you to consider whether we should therefore keep slaves as they did, etc.) i had a lot of trouble going through and changing every item back to think about it. I'd like to see a much more direct version, with a reversed form following it.... The money says in god we trust. Would you

Ah yes... Internet humour. I had no problem inverting the meanings, but I'm a programmer (as I'll bet many of the original authors were, given the date of the article and it's orignation) so I have no trouble thinking backwards. ;) But I can see where some would. Hmmm...that sounds like a challenge.

As for the respecting our founders line of crap you allude to, I have already had this discussion with MC Hampster and FortK
    • In Darwin we trust? Hmmm... That's interesting, but I don't really trust the bastard any more. There are far too many idiots failing to remove themselves from the gene pool. In fact, they tend to propogate profusely.
  • 12. Nearly all of our elected public officials are atheists; they even have to swear on a copy of Darwin's "Origin of Species" in order to take office.

    13. In a similar vein, jurors must take an oath upon a copy of the Skeptical Inquirer before they can serve. There have even been court cases thrown out because one of the jury members was a Christian who insisted on swearing on a Bible.

    14. And of course, people are free to wear pentagram jewelry,

    16. Even our language reflects the radical anti-Chr
    • On the first paragraph, well, they're probably a bit overboard on the matter of changing things around. After all, there aren't any secular books that come even close to being treated the way Christians treat the Bible, so I guess they felt that Darwin's "Origin of Species" was a good placeholder, probably due to the flak that book has received over the years.

As far as the Pentagrams go, no, they're not pro-atheist in any manner. I haven't heard of any uproars about people wearing Pentagrams in a while,

Computers can figure out all kinds of problems, except the things in the world that just don't add up.
