Help Me Moderate (continued)

  • I have 5 mod points expiring tomorrow, can't find anything worth giving 'em to in a quick look around, so came here hoping for some suggestions. None...

Couldn't there have been some LEGO stories this weekend?
    • Well, if you'd like to visit the Dark Side of moderation, it looks like this bizarre post [slashdot.org] is still +5, Funny. It's not funny to me, it's just... wierd. But YMMV.

If, however, you find that comment funny (or interesting, in a head-scratching way), you may want to check out the same guy's reply further down the thread [slashdot.org]. Throw him some mod points, and maybe some anti-psychotic drugs while you're at it.
    • Here's one... it's worthy of a +1 for Funny or Insightful. In the discussion about "AMTP as an Alternative to SMTP", the topic turned to what can/will legislators do about spam. This reply [slashdot.org] is the sort of non-US-specific note that often gets left behind, and its parent (currently at +3) is good as well.

They'd never get found in a 300+ comment story... and I wouldn't have found them if I weren't doing research for a metamod. Still can't decide if this [slashdot.org] is really redundant... I think I'm going to M2 it "unf
  • If someone happens to have some mod points left, I've got one of my own babies that needs some help.

Over the weekend, the story broke about the asteroid that will (almost certainly) be a near miss in 2014. This being Slashdot, where no good deed goes unduplicated, the story showed up again! Fortunately, the subscriber system kicked in and the story was yanked.

I saved a copy just in time, and posted it in the discussion [slashdot.org]. But with 400+ comments, nobody's going to find it unless they're looking for it, an

FYI, a conversation is archived after two weeks.

  • I can see why this Ask Slashdot story was accepted, but the editor surely should have known better. Slashdot Google Bombers? [slashdot.org] describes how a proud papa used Slashdot and other public bloggish sites to turn Google searches like "Ruby Orange" into links to his family web site. I'm sure the editors expected to see some technical discussion of whether the concept does or should work. What followed instead was a massive flame of the guy.

Some poking around the discussions found that the "troll community" (urg
  • Just a quick note... this comment [slashdot.org] got zapped down to "-1, Troll". Well, yeah, it's a troll, but I'd like to see what replies it can dredge up. Then, mod it down after some good replies get modded up.

On the other hand, it's an AC post. If you want your high-quality troll to have a chance at life, you've gotta put your own Karma on the line, not the AC's. Conclusion: if I get mod points today, I won't use them on this post. Besides, I already posted in the discussion. :p
  • One of your previous journal entries mentioned the newest user at that time. Where can I see who the newest /. user is?
