Deathbed Confession Says Aliens Were at Roswell 1267

Posted by Zonk
from the here-comes-the-super-copter-here-comes-the-noise-it-makes dept.
xnuandax writes "The army's explanation of weather balloons in the Roswell, New Mexico incident 60 years ago has been dealt a serious public relations blow. Late Army Lt. Walter Haut had signed a sealed affidavit prior to his death last year asserting that he had witnessed the wreckage of an egg-shaped craft and its extraterrestrial crew while working at the Roswell Army Air Field. An article at News.com.au reviews how Haut had worked as public relations officer for the Roswell base and was involved in the original weather balloon explanation of events at the time. This recent evidence would seem to confirm speculation that egg-shaped saucers are notoriously difficult to fly safely at low altitude."

+ - Benoit Wikipedia Editor Speaks Again

Submitted by

westlake writes "The Wikipedia is in the headlines again, with the mystery surrounding an anonymous edit reporting the death of Nancy Benoit fourteen hours before the police found the bodies of wrestler Chris Benoit and his family, an apparent murder-suicide. An anonymous apology was posted to WikiNews from the same IP address in Stamford, Connecticut, about three miles from WWE headquarters. But, to put it charitably, his explanation strains coincidence and adds a new dimension to the dangers of allowing rumors and gossip to be posted to a Wiki. + - Cisco lost rights to iPhone trademark last year?

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "An investigation into the ongoing trademark dispute between Cisco and Apple over the name "iPhone" appears to show that Cisco does not own the mark as claimed in their recent lawsuit. This is based on publicly available information from the US Patent and Trademark office, as well as public reviews of Cisco products over the past year. The trademark was apparently abandoned in late 2005/early 2006 because Cisco was not using it. TFA: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Burnette/?p=236"

+ - Solid state disks - 64GB from PQI, 32GB from SanDi

Submitted by CravingForPerformance
CravingForPerformance (666) writes "Taiwanese firm PQI announced a 64GB solid state disk with a Serial ATA connector. This is the industry's first 64GB SSD with a SATA connector. The company also says the first 128GB drives will arrive sometime this year. Also new is a 32 GB SSD for notebooks from SanDisk. The price of this SSD is unavailable but it's expected that it will add a $600 premium to the price of a notebook. The 32GB SSD from SanDisk is roughly twice as fast as a regular notebook HDD."
