All you need is a PC and a Wii U. Then you can play ALL the AAA high end graphics blockbusters other than a few Sony exclusives (All MS exclusives will come to Windows other than maybe Halo and Forza), and you still get all the living room multiplayer fun of a Nintendo console (and Nintendo's exclusives) along with all the TV apps (like Netflix and Hulu) on the Wii U you will ever need, and your choice of Nintendo E-Shop or Steam for your indie gaming needs. There's really no need for a PS4 or Xbox "Durango", you won't miss much. If you REALLY like gaming, get a 3DS as well, or get one for the kids.

Fast-Food Logos Burned Into Pleasure Center of Children's Brains 322

Posted by Unknown Lamer

bbianca127 writes "A study has found that fast-food logos are branded into the minds of children at an early age, perhaps fueling the U.S.'s obesity epidemic. The study showed children 60 logos from popular food brands and 60 logos from popular non-food brands. Researchers found that, when shown images of fast-food brands, the parts of kids' brains linked with pleasure and appetite lit up. This is concerning because marketers tap into those portions of the brain long before children develop self-control, and most foods marketed to kids are high in calories, sugar, sodium, and fat."

You missed the point entirely. Adding a second Circle Pad would break compatibility with CURRENT 3DS games. Developers would be split, unsure whether to make games with both sticks in mind, or just the one stick that most people have. The 3DS WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER ANALOG STICK AS STANDARD. The Pro add-on is specifically for a select few games, and that is all. It comes packaged with some of those games.

Not to mention the fact that the Circle Pad Pro add-on doesn't even FIT onto the 3DS XL.

The 3DS XL is NOT the next generation of portables. Comparing it to the transition from DS to 3DS or GBC to GBA is comparing apples to spaceships.

Ask Slashdot

Hi, slashdot, I want to hook up a mouse to my computer. I already have a mouse, it's in a box on the sofa, and my computers across the room at the desk. I don't think the cord will reach that far, and I really don't want to use it from the couch anyway (my keyboard's at the desk, so I'd be walking back and forth a lot). Any ideas?

Sure, just mount a webcam-enabled tablet behind some plexi-glass, near the mouse. That way the computer and keyboard can see the mouse all the time without having to move themselves, or have you move the baby^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hmouse for a visit.

I need to apparently post twice in order for people to see it, but the rumours that the Wii U is underpowered compared to todays consoles is rubbish.

Quick Googling reveals that this rumour about the Wii U's lack of power, from 'an anonymous developer' (probably one with a vested interest in the Wii U failing), is complete BS.

Crytek founder Avni Yerli: The hardware is "very good". "Our guys in Nottingham, they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they're excited about it."

Tekken designer Katsuhiro Harada: Very 'impressed by the 60fps running of the game (Tekken) on the Wii U'

Vigil Games: “We had the game at the same level as high end pc version in a matter of days and a few lines of code got the game up and running on tablet in 5 mins.”

Gearbox: "The Wii U version (of Aliens: Colonial Marines) has so much more to offer... no other platform can do what the Wii U can do. The machine itself will be one of the best looking versions of the game [sic] because they’ve got more RAM than some of the other things [platforms]“, says Martel. “...they’ve got this really great processor.”

Epic Games: “It will do things current HD consoles simply cant do its going to be a powerful box.”

”EA: “Wii U is not a transitional platform, it is a true next generation system.”

THQ: “WiiU is just alot more powerful than current HD consoles it does 1080p very easy.”

DeanCubed writes "In a Nintendo investor meeting , Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata confirmed a new Nintendo Network for the company's 3DS and upcoming Wii U game systems. This includes multiple user accounts per console (not tied to hardware, a first for Nintendo) and digitally distributed retail software releases for their online store.

Iwata also noted that the Wii U's tablet controller will feature NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality, allowing the ability to use figurines and cards to input visual data to the console. They are hoping to use this to make micro-transactions for paid DLC easier."

Sure you won't have an online community as robust as X-Box Live, but now that we know their performance specs are comparable (the Xbox may be up to 20% more powerful - thats like a PS2 to Original Xbox difference), we know that most 3rd party games will end up on both systems, and you will be able to play online on Wii U for free, AND buy used games.

My idea of roughing it is when room service is late.
