Most Earth-like planet to date discovered

Submitted by
Beolach
Beolach writes "I first heard this story on BBC radio: the most Earth-like planet to date has been discovered orbiting the red dwarf star, Gliese 581. Stephane Udry, astronomer and team spokesperson of the Observatory of Geneva in Versoix, Switzerland, is quoted as saying "The separation between the planet and its star is just right for having liquid water at its surface", and some are even reporting the planet as possibly habitable."

Never have so many understood so little about so much. -- James Burke
