It's pure anicdote - but I made a somewhat popular little android called "Wheelz" - the day I put it up on demonoid (and TPB) my sales, and ad-supported downloads doubled.

Quoting myself:
"As an aside – more than 20x as many people have downloaded the full version of my game Wheelz (from TPB or other “piracy” websites) rather than bought it. And yet as I see it, it has never been stolen! In fact I would go as far as to say it has never even been infringed! And that’s because I uploaded it, giving my permission for other to download the full version for free, shortly after putting it on the android market for a profit.

Why? Well – why not? Popular games will be pirated anyway (no amount of DRM will stop that – although it is likely to destroy any enjoyment the game previously offered), there’s no stopping that. I thought it may lower my sales, but was a nice ethical thing to do

What happened? My sales doubled! and I received thousands of kind messages!"

I suspect, often someone downloads the free full version from demonoid, shows it to their friends, and on of them buys it.

I can't help but wonder... why am I watching a NASA video where the crater's falling on the moon makes sound in a vacuum?

I know it's artistic license and all, but aren't videos like this reserved for nerds, who actually care about things like accuracy?

They were making profit - 5% of their total was from android. I'd rather they add a notice saying "this platform is not 100% supported - very sorry if your device is not supported" and keep supporting it, but only as much as they feel like. If some new/old devices cant play the game... so what? Cant they just hide their app from hard to support devices?
