So it's a hype?
Who would have thought that!

Ironically this is all about Public relations and nothing about the truth, and nobody thinks its apple can tell the truth anymore.. Apples standard to simply lie about everything from taxies to white plastic to antennas to how there devices should be used.If finally catching up with them.

I look forward to the truth coming out.

Submission + - Microsoft on US Immigration: It's Our Way or the Canadian Highway

theodp writes: Even as it cuts about 14% of its workforce, Microsoft is complaining that the company might be denied some of the "roughly" 1,000 H-1B visas for foreign workers it intends to seek, and made it clear that the company could shift some work to Canada or overseas if it can't get talent on its terms. "If I need to move 400 people to Canada or Northern Ireland or Hyderabad or Shanghai, we can do that," said William Kamela, a senior federal policy lead at Microsoft, who later explained that about 60% of Microsoft’s workforce is in the U.S., yet it makes 68% of its profits overseas (where it also stashes its cash out of IRS reach). Kamela made the statements on a panel at a two-day conference on high-skilled immigration policy, where he sat next to Felicia Escobar, special assistant to President Barack Obama on immigration. The day before the conference, Mark Zuckerberg's FWD.us PAC — which counts Bill Gates as a Founder and Steve Ballmer and Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith as Major Contributors — posted its "MythBusters" video on H-1B visas.

Apple always reports actual sales

No...no...nope from a random 10K..."Product is considered delivered to the customer once it has been shipped and title and risk of loss have been transferred. For most of the Company’s product sales, these criteria are met at the time the product is shipped. For online sales to individuals, for some sales to education customers in the U.S., and for certain other sales, the Company defers recognition of revenue until the customer receives the product because the Company retains a portion of the risk of loss on these sales during transit."

So measure like every other company.

Apple NEVER has used sold it has always stated that it counts them as sold because if only ships what it know it will sell. Always has check its the investment part of its site. It is actually more hilarious as Apple has to *cough* adjust its iPad figures after what was excused as changes in supply chain. We know see it is as Apple simply failing to sell iPads.

iPhone is a product, android is an industry.

Know they are both products, just on the iPhone...iOS...the OS is a Unique Selling Point, and it used to be a pretty good one. As opposed to Android sold at Zero cost to Manufactures of Phones, for collecting the revenue from Advertising and the revenue from the Play store.

You can only argue which has the better model(Short term profits vs Long term Market share), I personally think Androids is better long term.

We're what, 9 billion people on this Earth and closest part of space and you want us to belive that 1 billion Android devices are sold every day?

A million is simply not as much as it used to be. Android sell 1 and half million devices daily last time I checked, although this was before the massive growth in places like India. Apples Share continues to drop.

Is that better. :)

Submission + - Is iOS 8 a pig? (trustedreviews.com)

kyjellyfish writes: This submission is more of an "Ask Slashdot" question than a scoop, and is not intended to denigrate pigs. I've been using iOS 8 for several days and aside from a few gimmicks and add-ons that attempt to achieve parity with Android, my experience has been overwhelmingly unsatisfactory. My chief complaint is that the vast majority of my apps are slow to boot and noticeably sluggish in operation. I want to point out that all of these apps have been "upgraded" specifically for iOS 8 compatibility. Previous operating system upgrades have been relatively seamless, so I'm asking whether other slashdotters have experienced this degraded performance.
