Europeans are not any more violent if you know your history (or read today's newspapers). What might be different is that Europeans have been more *organized* and invented more *technology* and therefore have done a much better job carrying out the violent tendencies that exist in all humans.
Once again science just proving the accuracy of Genesis
That is why they call it Disruptive Technology... in this case the reaction is quite literally disruptive.
I don't think the plan is to melt snow from the energy generated from the panels but would require an input of energy. Obviously there are few things more effective in turning incident solar energy into heat than black rough surfaced asphalt.
Imagine the opacity of the glass surface after a few days of traffic with steel studs or rocks caught in the treads or just tires driving over blown dirt and dust .
The idea of a solar roadway sounds great to the intuitive but lousy to the analytical and practical.
This is best you can do to flame Perl?
1. It must be me but I do not find Perl any more problematic in this respect than say C or Javascript. In fact facilities like variable string interpolation and symbolic references in my view makes Perl more readable and understandable.
2. So... use if ( defined $str ) what's so irrevocable borked.
3. Care to give an example. I have never read Perl source and have programmed 100k's line of code in Perl and maintain several CPAN modules.
on a platter?
Which is sad because the Electic Chair is really a crude form of execution and was an Edison marketing gimic as a way to convince the public that AC was baaaaaad stuff.
Interesting marketing technique.
I have put in driveway snowmelt systems and a typically driveway needs at a minimum ~100 kbtu/hr boiler to keep the driveway clear. Scaling that up to a road way and it would be astronomical.
What is going to prevent these plates from getting scratched and rendered useless shortly by studded tires, gravel, snow plows, etc.
i think solar roof tiles is a much better idea.
And what about file system crashes (ie from power being pulled) in an embedded environment?
Somehow just reiterating that everything-is-a-file isn't enough, and many professionals struggle to understand UNIX-style paths.
What? Really? You think the windows traditional
C:\"Documents and Settings"\USERNAME
is easier and more expressive then
Then there is the stupid "My Documents" concept. I once helped a secretary find a document she stored under "My Documents" and she couldn't understand why it wasn't there. She was on a different computer but thought since the abstract thingy "My Documents" was right in front she that it was her documents.
I agree ET would have similar behavior... if they are technically advanced they would most certainly be social, curious and have empathy.
With your bare hands?!?
