Submission + - 'Hit The Bitch' Violent Web Game Causes Outrage (huffingtonpost.com)

Xemu writes: A web computer game called 'Hit The Bitch!' created by a Danish anti-violence advocacy group has stirred controversy.
The game's objective is to use your computer's mouse to move a male hand so that it repeatedly strikes a female model in the face until it shows bruises. The site then rates each hit on a scale beginning at "100% pussy" and ending at "100% gangsta." Once enough blows are struck and the user reaches "100% gangsta," the woman falls down on the floor in agony. The computer game has caused an outrage in feminist media around the globe, despite it's noble intentions. What does slashdotters think about video games possible effects on increasing or reducing domestic violence against women?

Submission + - Green light for Pirate Bay acquisition (swedishwire.com)

Xemu writes: "On a special shareholders meeting on Thursday, shareholders of Global Gaming Factory gave the CEO, Hans Pandeya the green light to proceed with the acquisition of The Pirate Bay. The big question on how the 5.5 million ($7.5 million) acquisition is to be financed was still left unanswered. Last week trading of GGF was halted at the equity marketplace Aktietorget. Just hours before the shareholders meeting in Stockholm, Aktietorget said that they considered delisting of the GGF stock share from the exchange, because 'GGF lacks the ability to inform its stockholders in a correct, relevant and credible way'."

A special instrument is used to scan all contents of the traveler's device and interesting data is copied. No technical details are known about the system at this time. All devices found to have nude pictures in it will be confiscated immediately. There will be no fines but the person will be sent to jail, deported and black-listed from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Xemu writes: "After the reports about problems, iPhone owners all over the world go around and look at the network status bars. "To look at the bars is a very unreliable measurement method. There can be differences of 10-20 dB if a car drives by", says Mats Andersson, CEO of Bluetest. In the Bluetest test chamber the conditions are controlled. Submission + - Turkish Hackers Revenges Mohammad Cartoon (tmcnet.com)

Xemu writes: "This past week, more than 5000 web sites have been defaced in an attack targeted at Swedish corporations by Muslims hackers in Turkey. Religious dogma appears to driving force behind the hackers' effort to take out as many Swedish companies as possible. Swedish newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published a drawing depicting Muhammad's head on a dog's body. It triggered formal complaints from Muslim countries, including Pakistan and Iran, death threats against the artist and now also hacker attacks. Has your company any processes to elevate computer security levels when a religious or political group is targeting your country?"

Submission + - Study shows virus to contribute to human obesity (livescience.com)

Xemu writes: "A few weeks ago, a study showed a casual link between having fat friends and becoming fatter and it was reported. Now, a team of scientists at Louisiana State University presents a new study showing that the human adenovirus-36 (Ad-36) causes adult stem cells from fatty tissue to develop into fat cells, where non-infected cells would not. The Ad-36 virus actually causes fat levels to increase in human cells. "We're not saying that a virus is the only cause of obesity, but this study provides stronger evidence that some obesity cases may involve viral infections," said Dr. Magdalena Pasarica."
