It's a good comparison, but I'm surprised people don't know why this is happening. All of this is nicely documented in the book Men On Strike by Dr Helen Smith from about 2 years ago. MGTOW is the west's answer to the herbivore movement. Men aren't opting out of relationships willy-nilly, but as a market response to the status quo male gender role of provider and protector no longer being a safe investment for them thanks in large part to draconian family courts.
tl;dr - Women have priced themselves out of the market, so men are latching onto the available alternatives (i.e. video games and porn). For those who do still want women, many have gotten involved in the pickup artist subculture.
You've just described why the pickup artist subculture came into being.
You should have been highly moderated. There's even a term for what you describe: HYPERGAMY. It's a shame more people don't understand this and how it affects women's mating strategy.
Q. Where have all the good men gone???!!!
A. In your 20's where you ignored them.
Alpha fucks, beta bucks.
Women's mating strategy that you're describing is colloquially referred to as "Alpha Fucks, Beta Bucks". This starts at the macro level in the types of men they tend to go for when they're younger and the world in their oyster giving sexual access to "alpha" men of society. Then as the age they change it up to going for more "beta" men who would be better dads.
This phenomenon also expresses itself at smaller level during women's menstrual cycle. When they ovulate women prefer more dominant male traits such as the chiseled jawline and big muscles, but when they are in menses they desire men with softer features and more feminine traits.
Yup, a lot of women aren't interested in the "beta bucks" personality type who would be good dads until well after these women have had their fill of who knows how many partners, and their fertility is coming to an end. Funny how that works. Then they have the gall to ask "where have all the good men gone?" My only response is, "In your 20s where you ignored them."
A good number of people at http://www.reddit.com/r/thered... are exactly that. There's a bunch of other subs that are more focused on MGTOW, but TRP is one of the most well rounded manosphere subs out there.
Yes and no. It takes roughly a year to build and ship the big transformers power plants use. These things aren't something you can just whip together. If your entire grid shits the bed and gets fried, that's only a handful of power stations for the entire nation, and that's not taking into account transportation problems getting them out to the plants that need them. Should the grid ever get fried by something like this super flare, you're looking at at least 1 year of no power for the entire hemisphere aside from the couple of power stations right next to a generating source (eg Hoover).
Case in point, had the flare/CME that hit Earth in the 1800s hit today, it would have likely wiped out half the world's electrical grid one moment. It would likely take several years at a minimum to restore power to the continental US, let alone the rest of the hemisphere, and millions would die due to lack of food, clean water, healthcare, and heating or cooling (depending on which season it were to occur).
People today are highly susceptible to a mass dying event due to just-in-time delivery of foodstuffs, electricity required for medical care, etc. And that's for healthy adults. The infirm and elderly would be even more at risk due to their fragile health and requirement for complicated medical care that would be impossible without electricity.
In all seriousness the book WORTHLESS by Aaron Clarey is solid stuff. He took an economist's approach to various degrees and broken them down by return on investment. As a result he's very any hyphen-studies and liberal arts in general.
It's as if the scientists were correct: women are predisposed to jobs with higher social quotients.
Just so we're clear this is Twitter acknowledging that they're anti-free speech. Anything someone deems "offensive" is forbidden. That couldn't possibly be abused, nope not at all!
It's well known that men and women tend to value different things: men tend to go for higher base pay, ergo they tend to negotiate better for it, whereas women tend to go for better work-life balance benefits such as flex time or whatever. By freeing up money by reducing the rates by preventing negotiation, this translates to being against men's interests and allows the company more money for the sort of things women want.
To be clear, Pao is trying to kowtow to women by sticking a thumb in the eye of men. THAT is how this all shakes out in the end, plus any money isn't use for women's benefit goes right into the company's profits.
