This kind of software spreads by peer pressure, groups choose what they use and it can be very different from other groups, and when I say groups it can be from family members, to a whole social movement.
Here in Brazil the great majority uses now Whatsapp, until a few years ago the ubiquitous messaging app was MSN Messenger, and when MS decided to merge it with skype people simply left in droves.
You not knowing anyone that uses is a simple case of being in a different "bubble" as others, it is very common, and I think the messaging app (or phone OS, or desktop OS, etc) choice is highly influence by small number of individuals. I think the software choice is kind like a system with multiple stable points, everyone chooses one thing until some individual, or small group of individuals, changes its choice and the system flips very rapidly to another stable point.

Now the next big challange for AI will be channel surfing. I doubt it will ever change channels as fast as men do and still know what is being shown on each channel.

I don't know what he has against Amarok, he could have the same funcionality (or at least very close to) if he had writen some plugins for Amarok.
Actually it would be better, because lots of other people could use it without the need to change players.
The one thing I miss for Amarok is a good Android remote control with a widget, there is one at the Play store but it is old as hell and doesn't have a widget and the source code is not published.

Actually I would, when the booster from the shuttle land on water (here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?...) at first it goes horizontal but a few seconds later they go back straight up, because it is basically an empty cannister with some quite heavy engines on the bottom. IIRC before they start tugging the booster divers have to attach some hoses to pump water into the booster and make them go horizontal.

It is sad as a brazilian to see that we are less than 3% of global population and yet we are responsable for 11% of all murders worldwide (eleven-fucking-percent!!), and I would gess that this number may well be higher because there are a lot of people that just go missing and either there is no one to report it or the police just don't give a damn. I'd go further, every time I see some HFT news I think that the best way to discorage would be a hyperbolic cotangent tax, and adjust the weights on the fly. So if you trade in miliseconds you pay like 30% of the total value of the shares, if you do in 1 second it would be like 10%, 1 minute 1%, and so on. if people start abusing again, adjust the weights further.

I think the worst fail is that no one, not a single intern, tried to enter firetv.com on a browser before deciding on the name. It will be great people trying to show grandma firetv set up box and end up on PORN set up box with "My wife caught me assf*cking her mother 6" as the first title.
