Journal Journal: First Movie of the new year! 2

Dear lord has it really be almost a month since I blogged here?

Ok, well, I went to see 'The Aviator' the other night. Don't get me wrong, Leo makes me as hot as the next hetro male out there, but this movie was loooong. I'm talking Perl Harbor long. OMG!

But overall it was interesting. I've always been interested in Howard Hughes and since this concentrated on just a short part of his life, I found it very interesting.

Overall, if you are into Hughes, it's worth the price of admission. If Hughes or Aviation history isn't your thing though...steer clear.

Journal Journal: "Eternal Sunshine" fanclub meets here

Yea, ok, so this is 2 blogs in a row on the same topic. Sue me.

I bought the movie last night (something I rarely do) and re-watched it. I missed SO much the first time. I love the subtleties like signs going blank as they are walking through the flee market or book covers going blank as they talk in the bookstore. This movie works on so many levels for me. It's just excellent. I'm probably going to shelve it for a couple of weeks and watch it again after the holidays. (But I may have to pull out "The Truman Show" because I haven't seen it in 6 months now.)

I think I like both of these movies because they make me think. It's not just the mindless tripe that is usually printed on film, it requires active thinking on the part of the viewer to keep up with what's going on. Not that I mind a little mindless tripe *cough*Dawn Of The Dead Re-Make*cough* but it's not my usual fare.

Anyhow, again, if you've not seen it, rent it and watch it...twice.

Journal Journal: Not all movies suck 6

Ok so not all movies suck. Most do. (and yes, I'm talking about I (HEART) Huckbee's here which other than the company I was with when seeing it, is a black spot in my memory.)

Those that know me (and there are precious few of you who read this that actually know me) know that I don't go see a lot of movies. I prefer to watch them at home where I can control the viewing experience. So it's only recently that I saw 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'. I was blown away. Honest to God that was the best movie I've seen...well, since 'The Truman Show'. (What is it about Jim Carry's serious movies that makes me love them so?) Anyhow, other than dealing with some issues that I REALLY didn't want to deal with at the moment, it was a wonderful movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who has not yet seen it.

Journal Journal: I Hate movies!

God I hate movies! You know why I hate movies? (aside from the fact that the theater is usually filled with pricks who let their 2 year old child run up and down the isle pestering everybody just so THEY can watch the movie in peace!) The reason I hate movies is EVERYTHING WORKS OUT IN THE END! Life sucks compared to the movies. (With the exception of 'The War of the Roses' now THAT was a movie!)

Nothing works out in real life! Nothing! An movies tend to remind me that while some ass-hole can fulfill his dreams in under 120 minutes, I've been trying for 41 years and STILL CAN'T FUCKING GET IT RIGHT! (I've briefly touched on this subject in a blog I do on another site)

Not meaning to bitch here but is it so wrong of me to want things to work out?

Anyhow, I'm going to go back to watching my movie now.
