Company X patents government.

Company X today has patented the business process know as 'government'. Governments are now required to give X dollars in license feeds per year to Company X in order to stay a sovereign country. Failure to pay fees will result in abandoning you right to sovereignty and becomming a subsideary of Company X. USPTO's response said that this will spur inovation and development of countries by helping them all work as one instead of all the different types there are today.

Submission + - California Decision Could Limit HDTV Choices (livescience.com)

Caviller writes: California is at it again in determining what consumers are allowed to have instead of what the want to have. They are scheduled to vote on a proposal that would require retailers by 2011 to limit sales of TV sets to those that consume about a third less power than they do today. According to the article, this decision could have the possibility of limiting choices and raising prices for TVs nationwide.

I see alot of votes for #1 (SciFi trying to ignore science). Why does Science Fiction have to be based in the 'Current' known science?? I thought that was the whole reason for the 'Fiction' part????? Currently 'Warp Techonology' is not based in any real science(theory yes...but not on the level the show is showing), is that a reason to rip on all the Star Trek shows and such?
I throught science fiction was suppose to go beyond current science and let the current scientists try and see if it is possible?

Example: (Let's say....5% or your yearly income if caught txting while driving; or if you hit someone while txting, insurance it not required to pay anything and YOU have to pay for all damages). I bet you would see a lowering of people that are txting while driving in that example. That's the biggest problem with traffic laws...the penalties are WAY too small to be an effective deterrent.

Comment Processor Usage? (Score 1) 2

I don't know about the rest of you but on a dual core processor, Flash uses anywhere from 50-75% CPU usage most of the time. I'm wondering if Apple doesn't want Flash due to it's horrible, inefficient code base maxing out the IPhone's processor and causing overheat/battery problems....or weither its processor can handel the Flash CPU load at all.

Submission + - Adobe Blames Apple For Lack Of Flash On iPhone (hothardware.com) 2

MojoKid writes: Adobe has tried a number of things in its attempt to get Apple to take down enough barriers so the company can get Flash ported on to the iPhone and so far, nothing has worked. It's obviously a frustrating situation because a large wealth of video content being offered on the internet is drive by flash video players that are currently not supported on the device. In Adobe's latest attempt to get Apple to wake up and smell the coffee, the company is spelling it out to you, the end user, as to why you can't get Flash on one of the world's most popular handsets. Last month, Adobe did announce that the forthcoming Flash CS5 Professional would allow developers to write applications in Flash that can be compiled to run on the iPhone. Whether Apple will respond to this is anyone's guess

is the biggest security hole yet the greatest strength of any OS/Software. If virus writters had to rebuild for a new OS/Software each time it came out...they would almost always have to start over every time from scratch.
