Journal Journal: Weekend Snow means Winter Food Time 3

SJ's Mince Pie
==============

Software:
2 lb Ground Beef / Turkey / Chicken / Soylent Green
Handful of Baby Carrots
1 Onion, size and taste to suit the eater
1-4 Cloves of Garlic, again to suit
2 stalks of celery, cleaned
1 - 3 tbls Worchestershire Sauce
2 tbls Flour
2 - 3 servings of Mashed Potatoes or reasonable substitute (I used instant potatoes I nuked in the microwave)
2 tbls of cooking oil (I use Olive Oil)
2 - 3 Bay Leaves
Parsley for Garnish

Hardware:
Cooking pan
Casserole
Food Processor
Spoons
Piping bag (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat over to 325.

Take Carrots, Onion, Garlic and Celery and put them in the food processor until they're chopped very fine. They should be about 30 seconds short of liquid.

Put the cooking oil into the pan at med-high. Spoon in the vegitables, cook for about two minutes. Add in the ground meat. Continue to cook until meat is well browned throughout (about 7 more minutes). Add Worchestershire sauce, flour, stir. Reduce heat to simmer. Add Bay Leaves, cook for an additional 20-30 mins stirring occasionally.

Spoon Meat / Vegetable mixture into a dish, leaving excess drippings. Try to get it even across the bottom of the casserole. With a spoon, or piping bag, place the potatoes on top, again trying to spread evenly. I used a spoon and had holes in the top of the casserole - it still tasted great. Place casserole in the oven uncovered for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven, garnish liberally with parsley. I suggest letting it set up for a few minutes before trying to eat, but I didn't personally have that sort of patience.

Suggest serving in a bowl as it tends to be a little loose unless your plate has a healthy lip on it.

Journal Journal: Its SNOWING! 4

I now know winter is here. 4" of the white stuff all over my hometown. My son is all hyped up about making his first snowman, and going sledding. I'm at home working, but already told my boss I'm planning on going sledding this afternoon.

I love the snow.

Journal Journal: 103 Degrees (part deux)

Well - it looks like I've survived. I think my temperature has totally broken and I feel pretty damned good considering. I still have the body aches and headache, but compared to the last three days, I feel like I could run a marathon.

Downside: Its no 5:00am, and I'm working from home already.

Journal Journal: 103 Degrees 3

That was my temperature a few hours ago. I'm down around 99.9 now and I'm starting to feel better. I wish I knew what the hell I have. I have no symptoms other than muscle aches and a fever. Its driving me absolutely batty.

Journal Journal: Just when you thought you've seen everything 2

http://www.xanga.com/senzasenso

This is the site of a bulemia patient. She thinks that she's a fatass at 78 lbs.

I saw this on Total Fark, and it absolutely floored me. I mean, we all joke about plenty of Hollywood starlets needing a sandwich, but this girl is ... insane.

It makes me really hurt, to know people have that low of a vision of themselves.

Journal Journal: Just spoke to the Veternarian - Update 8

Well - it looks like we may lose one of our cats, Padme. I dropped her off this morning after she had a horrible night. The blood work came back, and she's in the late stages of kidney failure. They're going to try to load her full of fluids and hope that they can flush her out, but the Doctor already said she's never seen any cat with values this high.

My wife's already pretty torn up over this. I'm not relating partially because I've not really been that close to the animals. I mean - I have a favorite (Solaris) and I'll be sad when he dies, but I just see it differently I guess.

So - anyway. Help me figure out a good way to break this to my wife so I don't come off sounding like an insensitive clod.

Update: Well - its over. I have given the vet authorization to go ahead and euthanize her. She went into a coma, and the doctor said the battle was lost. Now we need to decide what to do with her remains.

Music

Journal Journal: Ask a subset of /. - iTunes recommendations 2

So - I'm into a heavy metal girl kick recently. Downloaded Otep and Kittie - already have a lot of the new Arch Enemy. Looking for suggestions in that sort of Genre. Heavy Metal a plus, especially with a ton of bass. I'm installing a new stereo into my econobox this weekend and would like some music to test with. Help a brotha out.

Oh and damn you btzlu2 for making me start up iTunes again today.

Journal Journal: Looking for a Junior Administrator 12

Okay - my boss has tried Monster.com and its been horrible. Some of the people we've interviewed don't know what the 'ls' command does.

If you have half a clue with Administration, and wouldn't mind working in Rockville, MD (Near DC) or Malvern, PA (Near Philedelphia) - email me and I'll send you the monster link. The pay starts at $42k, on call once every 4 weeks, no overtime, but a cool boss and work environment.
